Writer’s Wednesday with Eve Langlais
Welcome to our first Writer’s Wednesday!
Today we have the pleasure of having Eve Langlais with us. Eve has come all the way from Bowmanville, Canada, outside of Toronto to visit us. She is a military brat, like myself. And rumor has it she is married to one hunk of a man and they have three children together. Thank you for joining us. Let see what else we can get out of Eve…
Vivi: So, Eve… What prompted you to start writing?
Eve: A really bad book is what started it all. I threw it at the wall and ranted for a bit ‘til my smart ass husband said I should write my own romance. Kind of like a thrown gauntlet, I dove on the challenge and several releases later would like to thank the author of the book that sucked.
Vivi: What type of stories do you write and why?
Eve: I tend to lean mostly towards paranormal tales. I do so love stories with shapeshifters, witches and vampires. But that said I’ve written a few fantasy tales, some science fiction, which has been very popular, and even some contemporary BDSM.
Vivi: I have a special place in my heart for my vamps, but I’m finding shifters to be more and more intriguing. I just wrote a short with a BDSM theme. The research was very interesting.
Vivi: If you had to recommend one of your books, and you can only choose one, which would you recommend?
Eve: Well if I were to look at ratings I’d say Alien Mate, apparently a lot of people have secret yen for alien abduction. But my personal favorite is Lucifer’s Daughter. While not wholly evil, Muriel, the daughter of Satan, has a bit of a bad girl attitude that makes her say and do the damnedest things. This awesome paranormal is coming out August 9th with Liquid Silver and I can’t wait to see if readers love Lucifer’s Daughter as much as I do.
Vivi: I can’t wait to read it. I love to see how writer portray the Devil and their interpretation of the concept of good and evil. It great to see how so many people and have a different spin on the same idea.
Vivi: Are there specific characteristics you always give your heroines?
Eve: My heroines run the gamut depending on the story. In Take A Chance, Samantha is a shy and curvy librarian replete with glasses. In The Hunter, Suzie is a frightened mom hiding from her past but who turns into a tigress for her kids. Diana in Alien Mate is an argumentive plumper while in Alien Mate 2, Maya is a spicy Latina. Then there’s Isabella, secretary by day, dominatrix at night in My Secretary, My Mistress. Add to that mix a crazy girl who hears voices, a wicked witch and Satan’s little girl and, well, I think I just might have a heroine to suit almost anyone. LOL
Vivi: Describe your favorite type of hero.
Eve: A chest thumping, ripped, smoldering eyed alpha male. I like a man prone to jealousy, who feels an insane need to be protective, and who just can’t keep his hands off his woman. Sigh. I love writing about the perfect man lol.
Vivi: It’s so funny how much we love that type of a man in a book. But to be completely honest… If I had that man, we would fight every day. I’m too strong willed to have someone like that in my life for any long length of time. But I’ll take him for a week or so. * sly grin *
Vivi: If you could be any of your characters, who would you be, and why?
Eve: Muriel from Lucifer’s Daughter. She not only kicks butt, but she gets my favorite hero as her love interest. And she’s got a totally cool sword.
Vivi: What makes a great sex scene?
Eve: Um lots of dirty words? LOL. I think the scene needs to be explosive with a sense of erotic urgency and a true description of what’s happening to make a person squirm. No purple prose, not too much dialogue, and I like a cuddle afterwards.
Vivi: If you could pick anyone to portray one of your characters, who would you choose? What makes them a good match?
Eve: If only Angelina Jolie were ten years younger, she’d have been awesome as Muriel. She’s got the look and attitude to portray the sexiness along with the cocky attitude that character needs.
Vivi: I love her. I so have a girl crush on her. If we could bottle her sexy and sell it, we can be rich. I had a dream one time. It was me, her and Dwayne Johnson. Anyway… Let’s get back to the interview.
Vivi: Who’s your favorite fictional character?
Eve: Wow that’s evil making me choose one. I’m going to go with Anita Blake, especially in the early books. She was my first introduction to a paranormal, butt whooping heroine and I devoured her stories.
Eve, thank you so much for coming by and spending time with us. I can’t wait to read Lucifer’s Daughter. Please keep us in mind when you have anything new coming out.
Here’s the blurb for Lucifer’s Daughter coming August 9th with Liquid Silver Books.
Being Lucifer’s daughter can be hell.
Hi, I’m Muriel, the only white sheep in a sea of black ones, and a virgin to boot. I am determined to wait for love, but my dad, more commonly known as Lucifer, just wants me to stop being an embarrassment. I’m hoping the hunk that I met in my bar will turn out to be the one–just looking at him makes my insides melt like marshmallows over the coals of hell, but trusting is hard when it seems everyone I get close to ends up trying to kill me.
Not only am I dealing with an extreme case of lust, there’s a new threat in hell, one my dad says to ignore. Something easier said than done since it seems everywhere I turn demons are trying to kill me. But I’m okay with that, because one thing I’ve learned being a princess of hell is that sometimes I have to grab a demon by the horns and slap it around a bit.
A rebellion in hell, demon assassins and scorching kisses, could my life get any more interesting?
