Music for Her Soul Interview & Giveaway
Vallory Vance is a color inside the lines kind of girl. By day, she’s a straight and narrow Human Resource professional in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and by night she sits at her laptop to weave tales of love, reminding us of the fleeting moments when nothing else matters except that special someone. When she’s not at her computer, delving into her world of romance, she’s filled with laughter and joy by her husband of twenty years, three children and two dogs.
As a gift to herself for her fortieth birthday, she decided to put her stories to paper and share them with the world. Ms. Vance’s romance spectrum ranges from sweet to spicy hot. Vallory writes to please a wide variety of romance readers.
Vivi: Thank you for coming out and spending time with us at Delusions of Grandeur. We love learning about authors and new books. Let the inquisition begin:)
Vivi: What prompted you to begin writing?
Vallory: I wrote my first story when I was in the third grade. It was about a little girl who ran away because her parents wouldn’t let her go to a sleepover and her parents were very sad. It was an autobiography. Since then, I’ve written everything from poetry to plays, but decided to get serious when I turned forty last year. I thought if not now, when?
Vivi: We absolutely have to seize the moment and live life. Who is your hero/heroine in real life?
Vallory: One of my heroes is my younger brother. He is a career marine who has served our country for nearly twenty years and has been a loving father and husband in the process.
Vivi: Being prior military and coming from a military family, I can see why he’s your hero. What touched you the most about this book?
Vallory: I liked the changes the characters had to make in their lives in order to make their relationship work. Lena has to come to terms with the effects of a less than perfect childhood and Ethan has some growing up to do.
Vivi: Tell us about your favorite scene or chapter in the book.
Vallory: There is a scene near the end of the book where Lena and Ethan are dancing at an outdoor concert. When the last song is played, Lena realizes that the rest of her party has left. She’s just been in her own little world with him. She gets tickled and so do I.
Vivi: Vallory, tell us what advice would you give to new writers starting out?
Vallory: Keep writing even when you doubt yourself. Do your research about publishing options. Read, read, read!
Vivi: What is the most difficult part of the publishing industry?
Vallory: Marketing has been the most difficult part for me.
Vivi: Yep. Mine is balancing the marketing and writing right now. Running around telling everyone how fabulous you are can be challenging. So, now for some fun questions.
Vivi: It’s a zombie apocalypse. What 3 things do you take with you to survive?
Vallory: I would not survive a zombie apocalypse because I’m a terrible, awkward runner and would be one of the first to go. But I would like an opened bottle of Pinot Grigio, a fork and a German Chocolate cake.
Vivi: Hey, if you have to go, might as well go out with wine and cake! Thank you so much for coming out. Good luck with your new release!
Music for Her Soul Blurb
Lena Spencer is a practical woman whose world is carefully ordered by schedules and timelines and she doesn’t like surprises. So when she receives a call from a beautiful model detailing an affair with her boyfriend, her world is thrown into chaos. With the help of her boisterous sister and niece, Lena manages to pick up the pieces and resume her role as a single working mom with the added bonus of a few slinky dresses to show off the figure she’d always hidden. Feeling sexy and confident, she is almost prepared for Ethan’s return from a European tour. Almost.
Musician, Ethan Holden, realized too late that he’d miscalculated the level of Lena’s fury. A ten month tour through Europe and a crazed fan had proven too much for the both of them. Returning to his hometown, he is determined to win her back despite her resistance. But can he give up the music he loves if that’s the only thing she wants?
